David Foster, Katherine's producer for her 'Believe' album, is to have a new walkway named after him in his home town of Victoria, the capital of BC, Canada. He is contributing towards the cost.

Dear All,
Well folks, after a bit of a struggle and some help from admin, I'v now been able to register and log in. I hope you didn't think I had abandoned you - now would I?
Also apologies for not keeping this thread up to date, but things have been hectic and somewhat traumatic this last few weeks. Other than spending most of the last month working abroard, and doing a couple of Proms in between, my brother and I had the unpleasent task of putting our dear Mum in a nursing home. At age 90 she is now suffering from a rapid onset of Altzeimers, is unable to walk, speak or even feed herself and needs 24 hour nursing care.
I am now on tour in Japan until October 4th, and having aquired a netbook I am pleased to say I can keep in touch wherever I am, so there's no stopping me now! The RPO office are sending my October schedule to me by email so hopefully in the next day of two I will be able to keep you informed as to what I'm up to, I know many of you are interested to read this. And of course it is always such a pleasue to see forum members at some of the concerts, I believe Sue and Oliver are coming to Birmingham on November 2nd. to hear Renee Fleming.
I have answered a couple of PMs on the previous forum, please check it.

We are discovering opera and classical crossover after having listened to Charlotte and Jonathan, and the American girl Jackie Evancho. Watching Charlotte and Jonathan blossom like beautiful flowers and with joy was so wonderful.
Now we are discovering also Katherine Jenkins and know we've seen that beautiful face before. Now we can associate the voice.
This post is to suggest listening also to Randall Scarlotta www.randallscarlata.com . A sample plays on his website and it is just enthralling.
It might be wonderful also if somehow Jonathan could meet Randall, who also teaches and tours, but we have not studied whether he tours much outside of USA. We will look at his schedules on his site. (We have talked to Randall and he is such a pleasant person.)
It must be wonderfully inspiring to hear or sing in-person with such magnificent singers.
Anyway, if anyone knows or could suggest the two ever speak, it might be fun for them. It seems the singers in the UK are virtually unreachable to communicate.

Some say that music play should not play on the loading of most websites, but we love it on Randall's. Hopefully more singers will have something play upon visit, to capture interest. We could listen to Randall over and over.

Having been a fan of Katherine Jenkins for 8 years, I have also been a fan of English born Aussie Olivia Newton-John for 40 years (G'Day Olivia - it's Her Birthday today) since hearing 'If not for You' & 'Banks of the Ohio' sung by this mainstream country crossover singer in 1971.

Throughout Her Career / Life - She's had many Highs and Lows - the 'Highs' being : Singing with 'The Shadows' & Cliff Richard (now Sir) - Moving to the USA - The movie 'Grease' - Daughther Chloe.

the 'lows' being : In 1992 Olivia was diagnosed with having Breast Cancer, She had Surgery and became an Advocate for Cancer / Wellbeing Charities ever since ( later on She completed a 228 mile charity walk on the 'Great Wall of China' which took 3 weeks) - the movie Xanadu - Divorce.

With the arrival of Katherine Jenkins in 2003 this Lovely Mainstream Classical Music crossover singer (the Void when Olivia left the UK to live in the USA in mid 1974) has been filled (in My case) by Katherine - of whom I say a big thank You to, For everything She does so well for all Her Fans.

I have attached a few photographs of Katherine, and photographs of the last time I saw Livvy (Olivia) 'Live' in Her UK / European Tour 'Totally Hot' Concert at The 'Rainbow Theatre' Finsbury Park, London on 29/11/1978 (2 x tickets for the centre of the Circle front row cost £6 each back then) - I believe this was the last time Olivia tour in concert in the UK.

I read somewhere recently that Katherine enjoys listening to Justin Bieber. I am sure that he might be a very good singer or entertainer if he is to your taste. I cannot say that he is my cup of tea though. The thing that sticks in my memory however, is seeing him recently on DWTS. I understand that he is fond of wearing tights, but I have to say that I found this to be one of the most remarkable sights that I have seen for some while.

When I was a boy, I was very keen on my 'Action Man' toys, "GI JOE" to the North Americans. One of the outfits was a frogman, diving suit, which was made of black rubber. The trousers extended up to the armpits and were quite difficult to get onto the Action Man. Frequently I would have to give up half way and this was the resulting look:

Funnily enough I have been listening to a bit of Josh Groban on Youtube recently. He has a nice voice and sings some similar types of song to katherine, including singing in Italian etc. He is especially associated with 'The Prayer', which I believe to be co-written by David Foster. Anyway, much was my surprise when Katherine chose one of his songs for her waltz tonight. :)

I am not sure if many members know of this singer and composer Mariette Davina who released a superb self-financed debut album containing 10 original songs written and composed by her. Mariette also has a remarkable story to tell of courage, determination and uncertainty. It was with great sadness that I heard yesterday of the death of John Birch. John was a former member of the RPO and was still working regularly with us as a keyboard player right up to the end at the age of 82. He would play harpsichord in the Messiah, piano on pop concerts and was at his best on the Royal Albert Hall organ of which he was Curator. His numerous performances of Saint- Saens Organ Symphony were always a great event and he made sure the this mighty instrument was heard to it’s full, often drowning the orchestra in the process.
He was a spritely jolly character, whose enormous repertoire of limericks and outrageous jokes, delivered in a highly educated cultured manner was a source of great amusement to us all backstage. So much so he was often nicknamed the Vicar for his clerical-like repartee.
John will be missed so much by so many throughout the UK and other parts of the world. It is hard to believe he will no longer be among us with his friendly greeting and hilarious stories.

Hi there Yoos Forum Buddies,

You MUST have watched Katherine behind the 'Red Button' last weekend at Hyde Park, and hopefully bumped into ( how long does it take to make a cuppa or go the fridge for a Tinny!?) the wonderfull performance of the world class Tenor, Cortes.

I must admit I would never have believed mid 2006 that my 'Classical' journey would commence with a free CD from 'The Daily Mail' - not all bad then! Once I heard the first track on this freebie 'Bailero' (fourth song on Premier) by somebody called KJ then I knew it was something to follow up.(even though I had no idea of Katherine's stunning looks!)

I somehow managed to get a cancelled ticket in row E at the Liverpool Phil in Dec2006 and it was a unforgetable night, as not only KJ(loved the off the shoulder Spanish dress for the Carmen number, yes and the penguin joke!)) but also 'Cortes' who was awesome , especially Nessun Dorma.

Since that very special evening I'm proud to say I've seen Cortes on a number of occasions, from 'the Barbican' in London his first frontline show, where I reckon Reykav/Reykya/Reyca/Recyar, oh bxxxxxks, Iceland must have been deserted, to other places like Douglas,LLandudno, Manchester and Dublin. A couple of these venues I've had the great privelige and pleasure to meet Gardar.

I hope you enjoyed the five songs Cortes performed at Hyde Park. If you happen to be unfamiliar with the music of Cortes then please have a shufty at his first CD aptly named 'Cortes', where you will hear his unique rendition of 'Granada', 'Nessun Dorma' Carrusoe' & many other well known songs. His second album 'When You Say You Love Me' is of the same quality including 'Che Galina Manina, Matinata and others including a number of 'crossover' songs. In both of these CD's, we are given a little of Gardar's heart, in the form of a soothing Icelandic (folk?)song sung in his native tongue.

For those of you more familiar with 'Cortes'(Millymollymandy & Janet for two), you may wonder why there seems to have been something of a gap prior to Hyde Park. Sadly the management company Gardar was involved with went xxxs up which obviously did not help matters and then commitments in Germany and Scandinavia had to be met.(hold on, if you bothered to visit Cortes' fan website then you'd know this!)

Well thats led me on to the future. Presently Cortes is to perform in the Capitol of Iceland on 25 October and after? stirrings are afoot for Britain after the success of Hyde Park. Straight No Chaser.

Before Thursdays show, I was looking through the Tour Program, and noticed an a cappella group, Straight No Chaser. My only experience of a cappella's was in talent shows such as Britain's Got Talent, (and the US counterpart). So when I had a free moment, I looked up Straight No Chaser on iTunes and YouTube and really enjoyed what I heard. It also just so happened that 5 minutes after I bought their latest full album on iTunes, Katherine had tweeted about them herself. But I would strongly recommend people to listen to them. They might not be that great in terms of other a cappella groups, as my knowledge is non-existent, but I enjoy them.

The Principal Conductor is Valery Gergiev (if you have read Katherine Jenkins Autobiography - 'Time to Say Hello' you will note that Katherine was Awarded a new Award called 'The New Voices Award' by none other than The Maestro Valery Gergiev (who was given the task of deciding whom he thought was Worthy of receiving this Award - and He chose Katherine :) - who was extremely proud to receive the Award in St Petersburg, Russia - sometime in 2007 I believe), So the BMW London Symphony Orchestra Open Air Classics - looks to be an Event not to be missed (especially as it is free entry).

Laura was one of my favourite members of All Angels, she is very talented and has such a beautiful voice, I am really looking foward to hearing more from her.

The new album will be out later in the year, June or July I believe.

I am saddened by the news of the death of Davy Jones at the age off 66 the british born musician one of the group 'The monkees' who I had a soft spot for and got to see last year when they did a concert in Liverpool. R.I.P. Davy

Davy Jones, Manchester-born lead singer with 60s band The Monkees, has died aged 66, his publicist has confirmed.

He died in his sleep at his home in Florida. His publicist, Deborah Robicheau, said he had a massive heart attack.

The band, who included musicians Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, were famous for hits including Daydream Believer and I'm a Believer.

The Monkees were an American pop band, assembled in 1966.

Early on in his showbusiness career Jones appeared as Ena Sharples's grandson in ITV soap Coronation Street.

The band found fame through a successful television series, popular in both the US and the UK.

They were famous for their clean-cut image and were marketed as the American answer to The Beatles, notching up nine top 40 hits.

Three of the band's original members - Jones, Dolenz and Tork - reunited together last year to play a series of gigs.

A spokeswoman for the Medical Examiner's Office for Martin County, Florida, said: "The District 19 Medical Examiner's Office has been informed of the death of Mr Davy Jones.

"The Medical Examiner's Office will take jurisdiction and a possible autopsy will be performed and evaluation of the circumstances of death and medical information."
