Thanks for your kind comments about my pictures. Would have liked to have been in the front row but was actually in the 4th row, still had a decent view of the stage. A camera with a 14x zoom helped :D

Yes great pics Graham. Were you in the front row by any chance?;) I've never seen Hayley live or gave her music a fair listen to to be honest (yet). Although I tell a lie - went to see Russell Watson about 10 years ago at Wembley when he introduced a very young Hayley as his special guest. It was just for 1 or 2 songs though if I remember correctly, then looked out for her after that.:)

Glad you had a good time, not that it was ever in doubt :) She's incredibly talented and very sweet. Let's hope she does more shows in the UK later in the year.

You are seriously in for a treat. Everyone I know (either on Hayley's forum or just at the show on Sunday) said this tour is her best ever and I would definitely concur. If you're not in a rush then it's well worth waiting after the show to spend a few minutes with her too. Enjoy :)

Just had to put up a new post about Hayley after seeing her again on Sunday night at the Derngate Theatre in Northampton. This was the 3rd show of 6 in the short UK tour for Paradiso, the album she made with the legendary Ennio Morricone.

Going to see Hayley at the Derngate was always going to bring back fantastic memories as it was the first place I ever saw her live. At that show 8 years ago the guest was none other than Katherine Jenkins, the first time I had ever seen her live too. How many times have I seen them both since then? I could work it out but not in a hurry!

Sunday nght's show was excellent. Plenty of songs from Paradiso of course but also many of the expected songs from previous albums plus 1 or 2 surprises. The overall impression was how much Hayley's performance has developed in the year and a bit since I'd last seen her. How much of that is down to the work with Ennio I don't know but I think Hayley herself has said she found the experience of working with him made her look at things in a new way. Her sound seemed to have more depth and her voice more powerful but with no loss of that pure sound that she's always had. Versions of songs such as Pokarekare Ana, Both Sides, Never Saw Blue, Wuthering Heights & Sonny sounded better than ever. Then the version of Amazing Grace in the encore just capped the show perfectly.

After the concert, Hayley was in the foyer doing a signing session which she has been doing every night of the tour. When we joined the queue it reminded me of the first time we ever met Katherine at St Davids Hall (back in 2005) because of the length of the queue. From our position in the queue we couldn't see the desk where Hayley was due to sit but after 15 mins or so we could see lots of flashes start so we knew she'd arrived. It was an hour later that we got to her. She was looking beautiful as always and incredibly fresh. She was charm and grace personified and fun as ever. She gave out one of her little giggles as she admitted she couldn't remember my name (I know I've met her a few times over the years but it's been over a year since the last time so why would she? lol). As usual, she was happy to chat to everyone, pose for photos and sign programmes, CDs, tickets etc. All in all, it was an amazing night. She left the stage at around 9.45 at the end of the show and I have since found out it was nearly midnight before she left the theatre.

Thanks Hayley, a real star in all senses of the word.

Who brought the album Winter Magic by Hayley Westenra? I think it’s one of the best if not the best Christmas Album I hear in my life. Beautiful vocals, creative arrangements, and incredibly well written brand new songs are all put together to make this album very special and different from all the other Christmas albums. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo Hayley!!!!

I've seen Hayley live 7 times. Am going to see her on this tour as well. Have also met her a few times. She is absolutely lovely! I was really nervous when I interviewed her for my site, but she really made me feel at ease. Can't say enough just how sweet she is!

Have all of her albums. I love 'Pure' and the Japanese import 'Prayer'. <3

She has a few Japanese pop albums as well.

The Bath show is quite a good one if you like choirs. Last year there were 3 or 4 choirs as part of the show. Was a lovely show and perfect for the lead into Christmas :)

Am sure I had added a note to this topic but it seems not lol

Am going to see Hayley in Banbury in November and then in Bath in December. I have been fortunate enough to see Hayley perform on a number of occasions indoors and out and also have met her several times. I can honestly say she is the most unaffected person I have ever met.

For anyone thinking of going to see her perform live, I would urge you to do so, I am sure you won't regret it :)

Hi

I have noticed that Hayley is performing in Dudley on 26th September , close enough for me to get to , but the best seats have gone .

Since I saw her at the Classical Brits , I thought what a very nice person she appeared to be , and I would have liked to see her perform . She had so much time for her fans and I respected her for that .

I have not had a strong opinion on her music , but would like to find out for myself, who knows there may be a cancellation nearer the time , watch this space.

Classical musician Hayley Westenra, 'The Armed Forces Sweetheart' today launched The Royal British Legion's Poppy People recruitment drive at Leadenhall Market in London.

Westenra, a staunch supporter of The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal, was joined by six Army Officers from the University of London Officer Training Corps.

Westenra said: "I'm proud to be able to support the Legion's Poppy Appeal again this year and I would urge everyone to give the Legion a call and pledge their support by becoming a Poppy Person for the Appeal."

The aim of this year's Poppy People campaign is to recruit a new generation of volunteer collectors, injecting youth and vitality for the Legion's coming Poppy Appeal. The Poppy Appeal is the Legion's principal way of collecting the welfare funds that are used to provide financial, social and emotional support to the serving and ex-Service community.

Poppy People - the army of volunteer collectors, who give anything from two hours to two weeks of their time to distribute poppies and collect on streets, shops and in workplaces across the country - are crucial to the success of the Poppy Appeal. Last year, Poppy People helped the Legion raise a record £31 million for the Appeal.

Second Lieutenant Michael Townsend of The Rifles Volunteers said: "This is my second year collecting for the Poppy Appeal. Poppy People are vital to the success of the Appeal which aims to help those who Serve or have Served in the British Armed Forces."

Russell Thompson OBE, the Director of National Events and Fundraising explains that although the Legion has some 300,000 Poppy People nationwide, new collectors are always welcome. In London alone, at least a further 1000 are needed to meet the ever increasing demand.

"Our existing Poppy People are extremely dedicated, but in order for the Appeal to be even more successful than in previous years, we must constantly develop and enhance that committed band of volunteers to include young, enthusiastic people who have a real passion for our Armed Forces and for the work of The Royal British Legion.

"I believe we have the potential, with the support of the great British public, to make this year's Poppy Appeal the most successful to date, as long as those volunteers step forward."
