Very Sad News

I'm sorry to say that I've received the following PM from David Barron's (DBarron) wife:-

'Hi Tricia,

Sadly, Dave passed away over the weekend quite unexpectedly, whilst he was working a few hours drive away. He was found in a collapsed state at work and unfortunately the paramedics and hospital team did not manage to resuscitate him. Until the post-mortem has been carried out, we won't know the cause of death.

Dave and I travelled to Frankfurt over Easter to see KJ and Il Divo and we had a KJ M&G over the weekend, where she was as fabulous and gorgeous as ever. She very graciously agreed to do a small video for Dave to his tablet for her fans in the USA. This really was the highlight of his year so far, and although he was a bit awe-struck and emotional at the time, he was so happy to have done the M&G. I am just so sad that it will be the only one he'll ever do, as we were looking forward to KJ's other concerts this year and the potential of other M&Gs.

Katherine brought so much to Dave's life. She came along at a time when things were very tough for us and I really believe that it was Katherine's music which got Dave through this terrible time. He was a very sensitive soul, and cried very easily at things that moved him, particularly music, but he was also the bravest, most fearless person that I have every met.

We were married for 32 years and together for 37 this September, so as you can imagine, I am now in a complete and utter state of shock and disbelief.

Unfortunately, I don't know the "handles" of the people Dave was in contact with until I get his stuff returned to me. So maybe you could let people know in the interim until I can contact them?

Sadly I never met Dave but he has been a member of the Forum for many years and posted often. I will miss his input very much!

My thought and prayers are with Alison and the rest of Dave's family and his friends.

Passing of Lady Thatcher

Hi Tricia and all UK friends;

Please accept my deepest sympathies upon hearing of the death of a great world leader, Margaret Thatcher. I had the privilege of meeting this fine lady years ago in Washington, D.C. I'm sure many Brits will remember her long after this day as many Americans will also. Again my sympathies.

Some sad news

Many of you will have my met my mother at various Katherine-related shows where she has been a regular visitor since March 2004. Sadly last Saturday she had a stroke. Fortunately I was with her at the time and called 999 and the paramedics were there very quickly. They soon confirmed my "diagnosis" of a stroke and rushed her to hospital. They had radio'd ahead and A&E were well-prepared. She is currently very poorly but it could have been a lot worse. She has survived the first 48 hours which apparently is good news. Now only time will tell about what sort of recovery she can make.

I'm currently putting together a player to include some of her favourite music for when she is strong enough to use it. Am hoping the sounds of Katherine, Hayley, Laura, Russell, Andrea etc will help her win the fight.

I am also going to drop a line off to Katherine as an autographed picture beside her hospital bed would be a boost for when she's feeling low.
