Many thanks for the report Sir Graham, an excellent programme of music from the set list you have provided.
Elin is a wonderful singer, I'm looking forward to seeing her in Manchester in June.

The Royal Liverpool Phil are an orchestra on my 'to see' list, as they sound superb.

Glad you had an enjoyable night out.

There's another chance to see The Story of Allegri's Miserere on the BBC iPlayer

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00g81g7

Only if you are quick though, it's only available for 2 more days.  Elin Manahan Thomas appears in the programme, singing as part of The Sixteen under the direction of Harry Christophers.  A most interesting programme, if you like your early sacred music.  Worth watching for the perfomace by The Sixteen at the end of the programme alone!

All the best
Graham

Elin is a truly great soloist - I had the pleasure of hearing her performing (and acting!) in the Armonico Concert Opera performance of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall in March 2008, and, more conventionally, with 'The Sixteen' at the same venue in May of last year.

As Gary has noted, Elin is once again in Manchester on June 3rd, 2010, in a new 'voice and verse' performance of 'The Four Seasons' with the Academy of Ancient Music. That should be a an event to savour.

I agree Steve, Elin is a wonderful solo artist. I, too, saw the performance of the 'Magic Flute' at the Bridgewater, and it was a marvellous production.
I'm certainly looking forward to seeing and hearing the 'Four Seasons' in June. Should be another excellent production!

Hi all

This programme may be of interest.  Once again it is on S4C (Sky Channel 0134 oustside Wales).

Sunday 18th April 2010

22:50 - 23:50 Elin Manahan Thomas: Soprano Bach

Documentary following a busy year in the life of the young soprano from Gorseinon, Elin Manahan Thomas. The programme includes her performance of the Bach's lost aria, Alles Mit Gott, which was found in a shoe box in the archives. Elin was chosen to sing the aria on television for the first time and her performance was recorded at the Cadogan Hall in London. Viewers can also follow her visits to Budapest, Austria, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur and the USA.

With English subtitles

I suspect that this programme has already been shown previously, but should be worth a look for any fans of EMT.

All the best
Graham

Many thanks Graham

I don't recall see this programme before myself

There wasn't a Soprano progamme this week, was there?

btw I spoke to Elin's manager at a concert last night, a lovely guy who buys records from a shop a couple of hundred yards from me, he also manages, All Angels, Cerys, Aled, Julian Lloyd Webber and Hayley.

Hi John

You are right there wasn't a Sopranos programme this week, it was replaced by a live rugby match.  However having checked the S4C website Sopranos returns next Tuesday at 9PM for the penultimate programme from Vienna.

The reason I thought this programme had been shown before was because of it's late(ish) billing, but I must admit I don't recall seeing it either!

Interesting about Elin's manager JP!

All the best
Graham

Hi John

It was a very informative programme for anybody who thinks the life of the singer is all glamour!

I need to catch up with this weeks Sopranos programme tomorrow, I was out on Tuesday night and recorded it but forgot to turn on the subtitles! Whoops

I agree it has been a very enjoyable series, excellent music and some wonderful locations.  What a pity, it has only been available to a small number of people.

All the best
Graham
