Glad to see this thread here as I'm JE fan myself. You folks should know that Piers Morgan (one of the judges on America's Got Talent the year Jackie competed - as well as a past judge on Britain's Got Talent) has referred to Jackie as a "Katherine Jenkins' Mini-me" because they look quite a bit alike. During their duet in NYC they looked like mother & daughter or younger& older sister.

In any event Jackie's career is doing quite well and she even branching off into film - she's playing Robert Redfords' daughter in his new political suspense thriller "The Company You Keep"which will likely bereleased late this summer.

Ken
That's great news, thanks. Will look out for it. By the way, I like Robert Redford.

Yeah should be good. It's got an incredible cast. Besides Redford - who's also the director, it stars Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Stanley Tucci, Julie Christie, Sam Elliot, Chris Cooper, Terrance Howard and several other big stars - several of them Academy Award winners. Jackie is in GOOD company with this film.

I suspect that Katherine could end up with some LA film work coming from the contacts she'll make while in LA and the exposure she gets while on the show. I know she's a big star in the UK but here in the US she's barely known so this is a HUGE opportunity for her to advance her career - and maybe not JUST in the area of music. She's CLEARLY very photogenic and seems EXTREMELY charming and likeable - things that can go a LONG way towards a film career. I could EASILY she her doing VERY WELL in romantic comedies for example. She's VERY appealing.

I took the half day drive last August to see Jackie , in concert in Omaha , Nebraska and let me say that she's even better in concert and that's saying a lot. I am planning to see her again this summer. I can certainly relate to calling her a mini Katherine , can't think of a better compliment than that. Steve

That's interesting that you say that Jackie is barely known in the U.S. I was expecting her to be MUCH more popular there than she is in the U.K!

No I was referring to Katherine being barely known here in the US (as Katherine herself admits) - even in spite of the success she's had with her albums. Jackie is more widely known than Katherine here - though the truth is CC in general is not that big here (sadly) so neither is yet a BIG star in the US (despite their great talents). This is one of the reasons I'm so happy to see Katherine on DWTS. Her presence on such a popular show should boost visibility of CC here - which would be a very good thing for the genre in general (as well as for Katherine in particular). In my opinion it's a winning situation for everyone involved.

Jackie's website has just announced that she's doing a NEW PBS TV special to be shot in LA at the Orpheum Theatre on June 13th. Her previous special for PBS ("Dream With Me") was apparently one of the top pledge shows in PBS history (PBS is a TV network that survives through donations from the public).

2012 is shaping up to be a busy busy year for 12-year-old Jackie - with a new all-star-cast movie coming out in the fall (a political suspense thriller called "The Company You Keep" - in which Jackie plays Robert Redfords' daughter), a new "movie music themed" album in the fall (many of us are predicting/hoping Jackie will sing the "end title" song for the film I just mentioned), A trip to St Petersburg Russia in June to perform at the annual "White Nights" festival (concurrent with a massive international economic summit), a trip to Japan a couple of months back (with concert appearences and private performance for the Imperial Family), guest performances on "Dancing With the Stars" and "Canada's Got Talent" - and now a newly announced PBS TV special.

She's a busy, busy girl.

There is no better role model for Jackie than Katherine. And I see in them kindred spirits and very similar personalities. All the superlatives we give to one can be given to the other. The world is very fortunate to have these incredible people on earth at the same time. They should start a "World Peace" tour so they can do their part to reduce violence in the world.

Thought it's time to add an update to this thread. Jackie just (a few days ago) had her "Bouquet of Opera" performance in Palace Square in front of the famous Winter Palace in St Petersburg Russia - where she shared the stage with Opera greats Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo - each performing a half-dozen songs or so before a crowd of roughly 100,000 (Jackie's biggest live audience ever). While the title of the concert was "Bouquet of Opera, in truth it was a true CC concert, with some Opera aria in the first half of the program (mostly sung by the Opera pros) and second half devoted to CC standards.

This was Jackie's introduction to Eastern Europe and by all accounts it was a huge success for her - with both Dimitri and (especially) Sumi Jo treating her very warmly on stage (and the warmth seemed to be genuine). In addition, the Russian audience really seemed to take to her (the fact that her family name "Evancho" is Ukrainian certainly didn't hurt any).

News story about the event:

In any event, young Miss Evancho is now on vacation for the next month or so before she begins ramping up the publicity stops in support of her new album (which is devoted to "Music of the Movies") and PBS network TV special (her 2nd such special) of the the same name.

Still not sure exactly when her new movie with Robert Redford is coming out, but it sounds like it may be a feature at one the autumn film festivals.

The trailer for Jackies' 1st major movie is now out on Youtube. The movie is called "The Company You Keep" and it's major star (and there are MANY in this film) is Robert Redford. It's premiering in Europe at the Venice Film Festival & in North America at the Toronto International Film Festival (these are 2 of the top film festivals on the planet) and will likely have a general release late this year or early next year. Jackie plays his daughter in this political suspense thriller. Here's the trailer:

Now, if only Katherine would make a film (I'm still thinking that WILL happen).
