| just a thought for the new album, how about The Holy City or possibly a medley of last night of proms which sure everyone loves from your shows,or even Katherines favourite Land of My Fathers (Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau) I agree it would be nice for the Titanic anniversary My Heart Will Go On Brian

Just watched the One Fine Day DVD truly awesome lord let me be Welsh. I would so love to see Katherine star in Phantom of the Opera preferably on Broadway - then of course we could have the show CD & being really cheeky the DVD too
If Lord Webber is not a member of this forum and this dream goes unfulfilled can I suggest Climb Every Mountain from the Sound of Music

| I'd love it if Katherine would sing songs from "Porgy and Bess" eg "Summertime" and "I loves you Porgy". Also from "Show Boat" she could do a great version of "Ol' Man River" I bet. I know I know usually sung by a bass baritone but long ago a college friend, mezzo, did a concert for me for my birthday and sang this song. It was unexpected and gorgeous. Also "Bill" and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man of Mine". All sung in the dialect as written. Now that could be a challenge ) for K's Welsh cadence and accent. Also, "Listen" from Dream Girls. Also, "Stormy Weather". Also, "Lover's Concerto" ala Sarah Vaughan. K using her lighter timbre voice. Also, "Perhaps Love" in duet or solo. "Evergreen", "Wind Beneath my Wings". ALSO, I recently found an early vid of K singing the Welsh Nat'l Anthem in Welsh. Didn't understand a word of course, but was deeply moved by this performance. I wish she would put it on a CD. Her love of her country blooms from each word. All her Welsh songs have a special quality to them... for me any way.

Almost forgot... "Not for me", "Embraceable You", "Someone to Watch Over Me" well I guess as a shortcut ... the whole Gershwin songbook.

| And finally... some dirges: "Danny Boy" which originally was written to be sung by a woman bidding a son, a lover etc goodbye as he leaves Ireland to seek work abroad. And to honor those who fought so long ago: WW 1 "The Green Fields of France" aka "Willy McBride" =========== "Try to Remember" from "The Fantastiks" And for a real difference Peter, Paul and Mary's "Puff the Magic Dragon". for the children in audiences.. Is this song even known in the UK? (not exactly dirges I guess) Some of these songs are dark... not the usual for Katherine... but her mezzo voice and oddly touching resonance would work so well for them I think. I'd be curious to see what new twist her voice would bring to them.

| This thread is quite interesting. I agree with some other posters here that maybe Katherine should look at some more Irish songs for her next cd. It would also be great if she put some Welsh songs on it like Men Of Harlech, Bread of Heaven and The National Anthem. I must say that Katherine singing The Welsh anthem has always bee the highlight of her appearsncesa in Dublin.

It is such a moving song and would fit with her interests in the military and remembrance. I love to hear Ronnie Brown from 'The Corries' sing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyiLfSHSqds Yes, of course we had Puff in Britain. I fondly remember him from my childhood. It is a shame that he had to suffer reinterpretation (which was hotly disputed) and I prefer to remember the friendly dragon rather than anything about smoking illicit substances! Angus.

| While on the theme of 'The Green Fields of France' and remembrance, I would love to hear Katherine's rendition of 'The Flowers Of The Forest'. That would certainly have the tears rolling from every Scottish eye in the house and many others as well. This one did it for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqY79y-SCbA&feature=related Note the famous footage of the Canadians landing on 'Juno Beach' in Normandy. Angus.
