Nicola fans will be pleased to hear that she will be recording the Korngold Violin Concerto with the RPO in April. This is a very romantic Hollywood style work, based on themes he wrote for old Bettie Davis films.
Erich Korngold was an a very fine Austrian composer, much admired by Mahler. He emigrated to Hollywood where he became a very successful film score composer. The Sea Hawk is one of his finest. He wrote one Symphony which has been recorded by the LSO and Andre Previn, a first class recording. Also Much Ado About Nothing is one of his famous film scores.
Look them up online and have a listen.

The recording of the Korngold Concerto has been removed from our schedule. Let's hope it will re-appear later in the year....
