Kate, you could order the CD/DVD combo through Amazon.ca. If you go to the other sellers who sell through Amazon, prices start at $7 or 8 with a $7 or 8 shipping charge to the USA (even if the seller is in the USA!!!). I would say that $15 for the CD with over 20 tracks plus the DVD of Katherine In The Park (including the extras such as the Ave Maria video that you posted) is still a good deal.

I do not know why they are only selling the CD in the USA, with no DVD. It must be a 'special' for the American market!

 Angus.

Oh Angus you darling man!

Your message is (to use Katherine's "Oh so Brit" word) "Brilliant".

I did go to Amazon.ca (Canada) and Yup!  there was a seller of a new CD/DVD of "One Fine Day"for~ CDN$7 which is almost the same US$ plus the S/H is only ~$3.70 (where'd you get the $7 for S/H?...Not what I saw).  I plan to buy it but I messaged the seller with a few questions... I am such a neophyte vav international purchases and am a bit concerned re Region compatability for one thing cuz it ships from UK.  Do you know? will a Region 0 DVD play on my Region 1 player?

Also they advise buyers, on seller's page, to check with customs re special fees.  So I'll do that tomorrow.  It's horrible when I find one of these pits of ignorance and just stumble around til I find some light.

I do agree that even w/ your calculation the price is very very good for the item.

Which just this instant brought up... a nagging annoying concern.  How can they sell a new item for such a low price?  Is it a pirated version?.. even typing that sends a heated flush of anger through my body.  Don't get me started.

Oh dear, now I've done it.  I found the Catch 22.  How does one verify the "provenance" of online sales?

As an US American it's my tendency to trust Canadians cuz they tend to be so politely candid.    I know it's a sterotype but it's a good one so I don't worry too much about it.  Hmmm... how'd ya think it'll play if I asked the seller if he's a crook?

No, I won't do it.  But I am concerned about the issue and stymied too. Drat!!! Need to check a bit on this, and think on it.

Your snide remark about "the American market" is noted.  I refuse to defend or comment.  So THERE!   Actually double

Thank you thank you for taking the time to dive into a solution for me; that's the most noteworthy thing to me.  Unexpected and lovely.

Bless your heart,

Kate

These companies sell through Amazon. You pay Amazon, not the company. If there is a problem, you complain to Amazon. Most of these companies have a very high customer satisfaction rating. I have bought lots of CDs and DVDs from these companies. They are not pirated. I suppose they have low overheads selling this way but I do not know why the prices are so good. However, I am not complaining. I have a genetically acquired nose for a bargain!

The ones sold by British companies on Amazon.ca are for playing in North America. You may have to pay a customs' fee, but I never have. Some of the companies are based in the US, so that would get around the customs question.

 Hope that helps.

 Angus.

Region 0 refers to a DVD with no regional playback issues.

The Llangollen DVD is also a region 0 DVD. In North America, the only Katherine DVD that is not region friendly is Viva La Diva. (Viva La Diva is therefore the only

I have also used the Amazon seller service several times, with great success. I purchased Second Nature this way (since the North American release, La Diva is more common here).

Amazon does often get away with selling things for less than other retailers, simply because they can . I once ordered Pepy's diary from an amazon reseller in the US for a price significanly less than what my local independent bookstore could have gotten it for.

Angus:

Thanks for the big laughs at my end of the world... "genetically acquired" nearly put me on the floor!!!  I've met a few Scots here first hand y'know.

Great way to start my morning.

Actually, in college years, close friends would sometimes 'accuse' me of being a Scot rather than Irish.  They'd say that the "Mc" in my name should be "Mac" cuz in US that distinction pretty much holds.   I was very thrifty doncha' know cuz I worked hard each summer for my "spending money".  I would feign fury at 'the insult' but really it was only meant with lots of love.

Wow! haven't thought of that "Scot" issue in decades.  Nice memory, and you get some credit.  "genetically acquired" indeed!

Thanks for the reassurance re the cost issue.  Really did bug me a lot, once it took root in my brain.  Your words make sense to me re low overhead etc, which means some sellers' (eg "US Market") profit margin is outta site.

Canadians still hold an endearing place in my heart.  Hated to let go of that predisposition.

I plan to order it today.

Oh and joy!  I received my very 1st ever Katherine Jenkins CD last evening when I finally picked up my mail from my mail box.  So "Daydream" will be my companion today.  The 2 DVD's should arrive today or tomorrow is my guess.  I am so thrilled.  Like a chocoholic alone in a Ghiradelli or See's candy shop.

Life is good.  Thanks again for your comforting words.

Hi

Bad news.  Heard back from Amazon.ca seller... the Live in the Park DVD is a region 2 and not compatible with my region 1 player. DRAT.

Seriously disappointed.

Glad I contacted them yesterday.  So will forego this pkg purchase now and look out for it via amazon.com in USA later.

Thanks again guys for your kind support in my quest.

Am loving Daydream... Katherine's voice so much clearer with CD and stereo headphones.  Whole new experience.

That is a shame. It is as well that you checked. Do not give up so easily though. The CD/DVD combo is not just a British thing. You were obviously offered a British version by a British seller. I bought my copy direct from Amazon.ca and could have bought it off the shelf at HMV. If you buy from a Canadian or US seller, it will definitely work in the US. One of the sellers on the list is in North Carolina, selling the combo for about $8.

I suppose the lesson here is that not all the UK sellers are selling the North American version DVDs to North Americans, so best to check, as you did.

 Angus.
