Katherine blog: "From Diego to DC"

I have been dying to write this blog to tell you about the crazy time I had in Argentina! The Warners team are just 'perfecto' and have worked so hard..

After the short 3 hour flight from Sao Paulo, I was greeted in Buenos Aires by hundreds upon hundreds of billboards...of me! "Do you know what an angel sounds like?" was the title of the advertising. Pretty overwhelming.. it made me ever more determined to put on a good show out here..

After a spot of lunch and a quick un-pack (actually it's never a 'quick' unpack - 3 suit cases and 30 dresses!!), it was rehearsal time for the next days big showcase. 5 songs, a Dolce and Gabana dress, loads of interviews and some delicious Fredo ice-cream! Invited were the vice-president, famous pop and classical singers, actors and celebs. The venue was perfect, the audience were fab, and I really enjoyed it! The night went as well as I could have hoped...after a whole load of press interviews and loads of pics I went to bed exhausted, but exhilarated.

No rest, TV shows including the Susana Gimenex show, the Argentine Oprah, radio and print interviews. An hour off, so I went to see the famous Eva Peron balcony... I loved Evita and I've always wanted to visit the balcony. We just had time to see the place where she was laid to rest. A nice moment to pay my respects to a such a loved woman.

Straight back to the hotel to prepare for my first album signing in South America, I was really worried that nobody would turn up... I was so surprised. The venue was an and old theatre converted into a record/book shop!

After singing a few songs (Oscar De La Rente!), I sat and signed autographs for hours... People were so friendly. Some were saying "you are a gift from god", "I've never heard an angel sing before", "will you marry me" (I always seem to get a few of those!), and my personal favourite.."up until now I've only liked Megadeath..but now I like your music too!!". A couple of people just cried and pushed the CD towards me to sign...

Then came a day I'll never forget! I sang at the River Plate stadium in front of a partisan 60,000 crowd. Argentina v Canada.. I could only see one Canadian flag in the mass crowd...and guess which anthem I'd been asked to sing?! I gave it my best shot, (in my old faithful Victoria Beckham LBD, with YSL shoes!), and much to my surprise I was given such a lovely warm reception... I even spotted the man himself Diego Maradona clapping approvingly out the corner of my eye!

I'm not a massive football fan as you know, but I really enjoyed watching the game..a bit one sided as Argentina beat Canada 5-0.. Check out who predicted the right score!!

How did James know that?!! 'Messi' wasn't playing...hmm, who had he been talking too? After the game I had the honour of meeting Maradona.. He's seen as a God out here! I gave him a signed CD and told him I already had a shirt signed by him on the wall at home... He gave me another signed shirt.

How do you top a day like that... Argentine Tango that's how... We went to see a show in town - our last night in Buenos Aires. Amazing, gorgeous, sexy, beautiful... Needless to say, I loved it. Thank you Argentina..."don't cry", I will be back, I love you too!

Thanks for reading, be in touch soon.
