The Week We Went To War
Beginning Monday 7th September a special week-long series presented by Katherine will mark the 70th anniversary since the outbreak of World War Two.
'The Week We Went to War' will celebrate the everyday heroes of the Home Front, from families who took in evacuees to ordinary people who risked their lives saving those trapped inside bombed buildings.
Among Katherine's special guests will be Michael Aspel who will discuss his wartime memories and experiences as an evacuee, while BBC antiques expert Tim Wonnacott visits Bletchley Park to look at everyday wartime items that have become collectables.
Katherine Jenkins said: "For young people like myself, there are a lot of events I was unaware of because they happened on the Home Front – terrible things like the Bethnal Green Tube disaster, where 173 people died. I have learnt so much."
Join Katherine by tuning in on BBC One everyday next week at 9.15am.
